Box Elder

This jewelry is made from the Colorado Box Elder Tree, which is family to the Maple Tree. This stunning burl brings a feathering or marble look with its light-colored soft wood. This wood also can contain a reddish-pink color otherwise known as “Flame,” a natural red stain making this jewelry exquisite and rare.

Black Locust

This rare and unique jewelry is made from the Black Locust Tree harvested in Beulah, Colorado. I've creatively named this type of burl wood "Northern Lights" or “Night Club” jewelry as it is naturally fluorescent. Only six trees in the world are fluorescent which means the heart wood glows or “lights up” under a black light.

Russian Olive

This stunning wood jewelry is produced from the Colorado Russian Olive Tree. This burl wood encompasses stunning wood grain features with a mixture of dark brown colored heartwood, light stripes of sapwood, and black “live edge” or bark from the tree. The unusual grain texture makes this jewelry striking for all who wear it.

Testimonials

“I love all my different sets of jewelry. So versatile and easy to change out different pendants on my sterling silver collar necklace.”

— Karin K., Pueblo West, Colorado

This jewelry is really special. It’s beautiful, lightweight and goes with everything. Not to mention I grew up in Beulah, Colorado so it is special to be able to wear a piece of wood jewelry from my hometown.

GM, Beulah, Colorado

“Not only was it reasonably priced, but this wood jewelry is so lightweight, I don’t even know I’m wearing earrings. Thank you for my Russian Olive Burl Earrings.”

Sarah W., Littleton, Colorado

I’m a mom and also work in a professional office. The jewelry is so unique and beautiful. I’ve never seen anything with the live edge. It’s reasonable and I get compliments all the time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Burl Wood?

Burl is considered the “Rolls Royce” of wood. Not every tree produces a burl. Often formed near the base of the tree, burls are an abnormal growth caused from insects, damage or disease occurring during growth. The wood grain in a burl is often incredibly unusual and prized for its beauty and rarity.

Where does the red stain come from in the red Flame Box Elder Burl?

The “Flame” is a 100% natural red stain - a natural defense when the Box Elder Tree is wounded, injured or diseased while growing. This reddish/pink color is rare, making this jewelry very special, incredibly stunning and unusual.
